This week, the San Francisco Decorator Showcase enters its 47th annual season, as it welcomes visitors to the reimagined Queen Anne-style Victorian residence at 2315 Broadway Street in Pacific Heights. Open to the public from April 25 through May 25, the highly anticipated event showcases a curated group of interior design and architecture firms, each of whom have transformed a room in the historic home into immersive, one-of-a-kind spaces that blend artistry, innovation and contemporary vision.
Built in 1897 and designed by architect Moses J. Lyon, the nearly 10,000-square-foot house is a quintessential San Francisco Victorian originally built for the Anspacher family. It was later owned and thoughtfully preserved by architect Herbert P. McLaughlin, whose 60-year family stewardship honored and maintained the home’s integrity. The historic residence features incredible character and detailing across its eight bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms, multiple offices, sunroom, formal and casual living spaces, and serene south-facing garden. Along with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay, the residence offers an extraordinary canvas for the designers’ artistic interpretation. Proceeds benefit the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program.
“Bringing this year’s Showcase home to life has been a truly rewarding and extraordinary experience,” said Stephanie Yee, Executive Director of San Francisco Decorator Showcase. “Our designers, donors, sponsors, volunteers and builders dedicated incredible creativity and effort to every detail, working long hours and weekends under an extremely tight deadline. The result is a home that beautifully balances historic character with a contemporary vision — all while supporting the students and bringing the community together.”
