As negligent policy plans eliminate climate regulations and AI data centers usher our Earth into an era of “global water bankruptcy,” it’s more important than ever to resist brands and services that perpetuate overt harm to the environment. Earth Day’s 2026 theme, Our Power Our Planet, represents the idea that environmental progress is “sustained by daily actions of communities, educators, workers, and families protecting where they live and work.”
While the most impactful ways to reduce waste are to use what we have and consume less overall, it’s always important to assess the business practices of the brands we do buy from. Take a look at seven brands below that are putting in the work to produce sustainable home goods:
Cyrc
Every object produced by Montreal-based Cyrc is made on demand — meaning no warehouses full of surplus inventory collecting dust. And while their products are made to last, if the consumer is ready for a refresh, Cyrc accepts returned products, reclaims the materials, and gives the recycled pieces new life.
Avocado
Avocado has expanded from mattresses to an extensive hand-crafted furniture collection made entirely with upcycled wood from their FSC®-certified (C156318) Los Angeles woodshop. The brand’s Zero Waste initiative is part of its mission to divert more than 90% of waste from landfills.
Model No
Most commercial enterprises change interiors every 5 years. Model No neutralizes this waste stream by using regenerative material — including plant resin and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified hardwoods — that can be recycled and reused without loss of performance. Combined with 3D printing, their approach to materials unleashes a circular system that limits or eliminates harm to our planet.
Masaya
Masaya furnishings are handcrafted using trees sourced from reforestation projects. Each year the brand plants thousands of seedlings, converting deforested land back into forests, while maintaining old-growth preservations. This sustainable growth model ensures the return of flora and fauna while capturing tons of carbon.
Tosco Studio
Every TOSCO piece is made slowly and intentionally, embracing organic textures, rich marbled pigments, and bold yet quiet forms. Designer and founder Joana Esteves honors traditional techniques while pushing the boundaries of what concrete can be, crafting each object by hand to ensure no two are ever the same. Sustainability is at the core of the process, using natural pigments, durable compositions, and responsible production methods to create lasting, low-impact designs.
Birch
Founded in 2019, Birch Living is Helix Sleep’s all-natural and sustainable sleep brand, with 100% organic certified products assembled in our Arizona facility. All Birch sleep products are GREENGUARD Gold certified to be free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pollutants, phthalates, and formaldehyde.
Boneli
Unlike traditional stone suppliers or salvage yards, Boneli operates as a design-forward ecosystem rather than a warehouse. The platform allows architects and designers to browse real, available remnants by material, size, and finish, then collaborate directly with fabricators to develop custom furniture, fixtures, and architectural elements — at a fraction of the cost and lead time of full-slab sourcing. For fabricators, Boneli introduces an entirely new income stream from material that would otherwise sit unused, while preserving authorship and craftsmanship.
