Dreaming of Greece this summer? Consider the new Neo Suites boutique hotel located in Fira, Santorini’s capital. The cliffside hotel offers views of the caldera and is close to all the action while offering a peaceful and tranquil stay. Designed by Santorini-based Kapsimalis Architects, the buildings pay homage to the classic, white-washed architecture that Santorini is famed for, while offering some unexpected design twists.
Destination: Santorini
Property: Neo Suites boutique hotel
Architects: Kapsimalis Architects
Number of guest rooms/suites: 20

Design inspiration: The white-washed buildings that make up Neo Suites are inspired by the game of Tetris. Rooms and suites are housed in white, cantilevered “cubes” that appear to be interlocking. Adding to the geometric look are the linear shadows created from each terrace’s pergola.

What Makes it Unique: Most Santorini hotels embrace an all-white color palette inside and out, but Neo Suites uses color strategically. Guest room built-ins in saturated shades of dusty rose, navy blue and deep green pop against the white walls. Elsewhere on the property, color comes from neon lights in unexpected places such as the fitness center.

Furniture Highlights: Furniture by Italian-based S-CAB showcases unique silhouettes in geometric shapes. The DRESS_CODE outdoor lounge armchair by gumdesign is inspired by haute couture. The seat fabric comes in both smooth and quilted versions.
The stackable SI-SI chair by Meneghello Paolelli is crafted from zinc and coated steel affixed to a slender frame, and is seen in white, olive green, blue, orange and gray both indoors and outdoors at Neo Suites.

The Tripé tables series are a collaboration between RadiceOrlandini DesignStudio and S-CAB. The collection is a three-spoke system of tables with bases with multiple modular and replaceable elements.
“When we approached this theme, we had the firm conviction of turning it around and ‘tearing it to pieces’ to find ways to make it not only beautiful, but also new and innovative (which are not the same thing),” says Folco Orlandini. “Perhaps it is this attitude that is anything but superficial that has allowed us to create an object that has something to say in a world now saturated with objects similar to one another.”

Insider tip: Don’t miss the fitness center which looks like a Santorini nightclub thanks to a shimmery silver curtain and neon lights.
