On July 24, the showrooms of the Pacific Design Center, as well as manufacturers, design luminaries and media partners came together for a sizzling Sumer Market that featured the newest developments in landscape design, sustainability practices, and outdoor furnishings for the home. The event also featured the grand opening of the PDC’s newest showroom, Snowsound.
An expert panel, sponsored by aspire design and home, featured Claudia Afshar of Claudia Afshar Luxury Interiors, Jessica Viola of Viola Gardens and Kathryn Soter, the executive director of Good Future Design Alliance. The conversation was moderated by Jennifer Convy, the CEO of Women in Luxury Design, and explored the myriad ways that design and sustainability can coexist, creating better design and business for a better planet. The design industry tosses out over 12 million tons of furniture and generates 500 million tons of construction waste in the United States every year. Interior designers, architects, landscape architects, general contractors, and manufacturers are spearheading design solutions for a low-waste future. Immediately following the panel, which was held in the lobby of the PDC, aspire design and home hosted a reception in the Palecek showroom with a book signing with author Jessica Viola.
