Can you describe a destination or project that completely changed how you think about space, hospitality, or guest experience?
Jen Kravchuk: A recent boutique hotel stay in Key Largo, Florida, completely reshaped how I think about space and hospitality. Every detail — from the scent in the lobby to the curated art, accessories and layered lighting — was intentional. It wasn’t just beautiful; it made guests feel something. That experience challenged me to think more deeply about sensory design and the emotional tone of a space. Now, I design not just for function or style, but for how a space makes people feel.

What’s one element you believe every great hotel or travel space should have?
JK: I believe every great hotel should have an on-site restaurant. It’s more than convenience — it sets the tone for the entire guest experience. A thoughtfully designed restaurant creates a sense of place, encourages guests to linger and connect, and elevates hospitality beyond just a room to sleep in. When food, design and atmosphere come together seamlessly, it transforms a stay into a memorable experience.
What’s one travel ritual, hotel detail, or design feature you personally love and always notice when you’re away?
JK: I always notice the architectural details and the quality of the furnishings. Thoughtful elements like trim work, finishes and craftsmanship instantly reveal the care behind a space — and they leave a lasting impression.”

Who are your creative influences — whether designers, architects, or even cultural references — and how do they show up in your work?
JK: I draw a lot of inspiration from nature and the scenic beauty around us — coastal views, natural textures and organic color palettes often influence my work. I also admire the creativity of other designers and enjoy studying their work. Seeing how others approach space helps expand my perspective and refine my own design process. It’s a blend of natural inspiration and shared creativity that shapes every project I take on.
