This Quietly Elegant Home Features A Full Roster Of Thos. Moser American Handmade Furniture

In an Arlington, Virginia home, more than 36 pieces of Thos. Moser Handmade American Furniture come together to create a home where furnishings are showcased as art, and an appreciation of craftsmanship reflects how the homeowners live.

The 4,800-square-foot home, designed by Moore Architects, PC, boasts a traditional street presence with a simple, gabled facade in white-painted Boral siding. Inside, the residence is clean and restrained, with modern elements and thoughtful details. A sizable art collection, including an early 20th-century Hawaiian aquatint, makes for the perfect backdrop for dozens of hand-selected, handcrafted Thos. Moser furniture.

The homeowners, Anne and George, began their journey with Thos. Moser in 2005, when Anne spotted a Vita Chair in the window of the brand’s Georgetown, DC showroom. Anne was immediately smitten, recalling, “This was not just a piece of furniture, but a work of art.”

Over the years, the couple worked with the Georgetown showroom, gradually filling their new house with a remarkable collection of Thos. Moser furniture. Old and new Thos. Moser pieces blend seamlessly with family heirlooms and the couple’s “souvenirs” from their years abroad.

Thos. Moser furniture includes Coal Shovel Stools at the kitchen island, a walnut Oval Ring Table and Aria Side Chairs in walnut in the dining room, which is a favorite of Anne’s for its sheer elegance, a Vita Three Place Sofa, Element Desk and Credenza, NYPL Chair, and the iconic Chaise in the loft, and a cherry Studio Bed in the guest bedroom. The overall effect creates an interior that is meaningful, harmonious, and quietly elegant. The homeowners have also passed down several “legacy” pieces to their daughter, including their original Thos. Moser dining room table and chairs — the very set their daughter grew up with.

“Once you buy your first Thomas Moser piece, it becomes nearly impossible to turn back,” says Anne. “The quality, the design, the philosophy behind each creation — it all becomes an essential part of how you experience your home.”
