Jeffrey Dungan discovered a love for art and drawing while growing up on a farm in Alabama. Recognized for his clean and modern approach to traditional vernaculars and classical architecture, Dungan is a fresh voice in the industry who brings passion and depth to his work.
For the ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME fall issue, we talked to Dungan about examples of juxtaposition in his work, and his favorite fireplace accessories, as we close in on cool autumn months.
JUXTAPOSITION
“A recent property in Lake Martin, Alabama was decidedly and intentionally designed as a home that is on a lake but not of it. There are no wooden fish clichés in sight. The homeowner wanted a house designed to feel like a cross between a home in the Cotswolds and Alys Beach, FL which in itself is quite a juxtaposed idea.”
“The result was a house of stone and courtyard gardens and reflecting pools with interiors that are clean-lined with limestone flooring pavers and plaster walls with steel windows and entry doors.”
