ASPIRE’s Desires: Diamond Deco Rug

Scottish designer Wendy Morrison, a graduate of the Scottish College of Textiles, has taken her training and skills in fashion design and applied them to creating several lines of bold and colorful rugs over the past decade. The seasonal colors and textures she finds in her surroundings, coupled with a deft knowledge of current trends, inspires her popular designs. Wendy has her own retail brands, and offers exclusive Wendy Morrison branded designs for John Lewis. She was recently invited to join the John Lewis Design Collective, marking her as some of the best design talent in the UK (and beyond).

In addition to her colorful variety of product lines, Wendy also offers a bespoke design services to work with you to create a custom piece that will perfectly fit your home.

Her “Diamond Deco” rug (seen here) is 100% wool and viscose, and is hand-tufted, with a pile height of 14-15 mm. This brightly and excitingly patterned rug is available in two sizes: The larger version, at 200 x 300 cm, is available for $1584. The smaller rug, at 170 x 240 cm can be purchased for $1200.

Every rug by Wendy Morrison Design comes with the Goodweave label: a guarantee that your new rug was not made by underage children working illegally in substandard conditions. The Goodweave certification program is committed to ending illegal child labor in the rug industry, and offering educational opportunities to  children in South Asia. The program has rescued over 3,000 children from working the looms, reuniting them with their families or caring for them in sponsored rehabilitation centers. The organization’s work has prevented thousands more children from entering the weaving workforce, and provides education and childcare for those whose parents are in the weaving industry.
