
“By creating immersive experiences, we’re so proud to foster conversations on how space-making can form the foundation for Black creatives to maintain physical, social, emotional, and creative well-being,” says founder, Marlene Barnett. “BADG Of Honor allows those witnessing legacy through an Afrocentric lens to serve a larger social purpose: encouraging community, connection, and conversations that further reveal the multi-dimensionality of Black identity and creativity.”
BADG OF HONOR will bring together a community of creatives, visionaries, and professionals from art, design, and beyond with support from their National Media Sponsor “Interior Design Magazine. The ceremony will recognize five award recipients celebrated for their commitment to building inclusive and equitable spaces, creating market share by building opportunities for Black creatives while building upon their own Black ancestral legacy. Additionally, the recipient of the Makers Award will be a BADG Maker nominated from within the guild.
BLACK JOY AUCTION
All throughout the night guests will be able to engage with BADG of Honor experience by participating in BADG’s BLACK JOY Auction, The BLACK JOY online auction will feature collectible art + design, unique experiences, and professional services with donations supporting our Mission and Education Initiatives. BADG of Honor is an evening to recognize those who exemplify BADG’s values and advance Black creativity.
Legacy Experience
This early-access curated experience will immerse guests in the award-winning Obsidian Virtual Concept House through conversations with BADG Makers as the concept house was designed to invite new conversations about the home as a place of thriving for one million Black families. VIP guests will revisit the project through an immersive, artistic experience during the event, an exclusive sneak preview of Obsidian 2.0 to VIP ticket holders. Attendees will experience the jubilation of a Block party indoors with cultural reverence, live entertainment, heritage-inspired cuisine, and more.
