To begin the day, Jill Cohen, book publishing extraordinaire, will join revered designers and longtime clients, Suzanne Kasler and Ray Booth for a keynote conversation about the process of publishing a design book. Cohen will discuss her 30 years of marketing and publishing experience, and how she built Jill Cohen & Associates into the “home” for illustrated books, such as “Sophisticated Simplicity” and “Evocative Interiors,” the newest books from designers Suzanne Kasler and Ray Booth. Hear from nationally renowned designers about how they find the balance between classic and contemporary in creating spaces that serve as trademarks for those who live in them – as well as how a designer’s illustrated book can help elevate their career and help their designs reach the world. Following Jill’s discussion with Suzanne and Ray will be a book-signing reception in Phillip Jeffries on the 5th floor.
Speakers for the rest of the afternoon include designers Jeffrey Dungan, presenting his second book “The Nature of Home: Creating Timeless Houses,” an homage to authenticity, followed by a reception in Hopes Woodshop on the 2nd floor; Susanna Salk, author of “The Power of Pattern: Interiors and Inspiration: A Resource Guide,” an in-depth look at how textiles and wallpapers affect the rhythm of our lives, followed by a reception in Schumacher on the 5th floor; and Patrick Sutton, with “Storied Interiors,” an exploration of how we understand ourselves as presented through the spaces we inhabit, followed by a reception in Liz Roache on the 3rd floor.
The Fall Book Fair begins at 11:00 AM with the keynote discussion in the Boston Design Center’s Galley West on the 2nd floor, and will continue through the day with presentations in Galley West and book signing receptions in BDC showrooms following each presentation.
