Alyson O’Hanlon and Valerie Corsaro, of Clive Christian Kitchens in Tenafly, NJ, created this glamorous butler’s pantry designed for casual entertaining. High-gloss black cabinetry by Clive Christian pairs with an oversized floral wallcovering from Pierre Frey, to provide a backdrop for guests to help themselves to the bar and mingle as they pass through the space.
Corsaro explains, “Butler’s pantries, much like powder rooms, give us an opportunity to create a fun, magical space in the home because they don’t require us to match the surrounding areas. Some butler’s pantries are pass-through spaces. In that case, we often add trim to openings or doorways. This not only defines the space, but gives us a stopping point to change color, or add wallpaper or tile.” The Clive Christian black cabinetry picks up the surrounding sparkle in its high-gloss finish. The brass and glass mosaic tile – Hip 2B Square by Artistic Tile – and the gold foil-backed mirrors by Artique Glass behind the bar, are reflected in the gold-leafed ceiling and Artistic Tile Thassos marble mosaic on the floor, and lightly veined marble countertops.

“Alyson and I wanted a glamorous space that had plenty of sparkle,” Corsaro shares. This fresh take on a butler’s pantry fits the bill.
