Alexandra Champalimaud created an intimate and beguiling bar in this private residence in New York’s Flatiron District. While the designer found inspiration in Le Fumoir Bar at Claridge’s in London, the client also had a vision of a jewelry box snugged in her very own home.
Champalimaud accomplished this by coating the walls, custom designed cabinetry and bar in a blanket of black. The mirrored wall behind the open glass shelving reflects this effect, and adds to the setting’s feeling of intimacy and allure. Hanging to the right of the bar, the large glamorous fashion photograph is by Deborah Turbeville and was acquired through Cynthia-Reeves.
