Creative Director and Founder of The Crave Collective, Cannon Schaub, has just unveiled her first brick-and-mortar Salon showcasing the collective’s design brands in a fully experiential space. Located in the famous 1123 Broadway, the Salon culminates Cannon’s 20+ year career working with designers, brands, makers, and artisans. The investment was significant and a manifestation of hard work for her and her brands, who created a custom and unique design in collaboration with long-time friend and interior designer Brock Forsblom.
“I started feeling the need for a physical space in late 2021 but did not find the right one. At the end of Summer 2022, the timing was right to create the Salon where Interior Designers and their clients could experience my brands fully installed while discussing their project needs and sourcing from my extensive range of samples”, says Cannon.
Since 2015 The Crave Collective has serviced high-end luxury designers and architects with a curated group of luxury and artisanal brands. Without a physical space, Cannon has focused on seeing designers by appointment in their offices and carrying large parcels of samples. With the new Salon, there is an opportunity for designers to not only experience her brand’s larger installations but also to shop with Cannon through an extensive inventory of samples allowing for a laboratory of design.
The Salon will be open Monday through Friday by appointment so that designers will have Cannon’s complete attention and exclusive use of the space with or without their clients. “We can delve deep into my library of samples, and since so many of my clients buy across brands, it’s a one-stop jumpingoff point for many projects. I have already seen how this works with my early appointments, which is exciting.”
In discussing the Salon’s design, Cannon shares that collaborating with Brock Forsblom and her brands on this space has been a joy and a feast for the senses. “When I first dreamed up the Salon idea, I came to Brock and asked if he would partner with me on creating a space of inspiration and healing for the design community and all of NYC. He graciously said yes, even though he had permanently closed his design business. I am immensely proud of the result and something a close friend and I created together. The early response has been stellar.”
