In this neutral-centric living room, shelves flanking the fireplace create a stunning focal point. The TV elegantly displays artwork, bidding goodbye to the traditional black screen when off.
Andrew Joseph: What is the last book you read?
Brad Ramsey: I just recently finished reading Seabiscuit. A total classic. I love how Hillenbrand is able to capture the heart of a horse in her words and the subtleties in their behaviors that reveal their intentions. So good!
AJ: What’s the best thing that happened to you this month?
BR: I took a two-week vacation and traveled to Portugal and Spain. All the architecture, food, culture, and experiences were amazing! I was so inspired by the Portuguese tiles that dominated the architecture in Lisbon and Porto. I even took a tile-making class for fun! And, of course, Barcelona is just magical. I am dying to go back!
A taupe washstand graces mosaic floor tiles in white and gray, complemented by an oil-rubbed bronze faucet. Above, the mirror catches the light from bronze sconces, all set against a backdrop of white picket wall tiles.
AJ: What’s your favorite cocktail?
BR: That’s an easy one… anything with a good bourbon. In the winter, it’s a Manhattan, and in summer, probably an Old Fashioned.
AJ: How would you describe your personal style?
BR: I have always loved textural neutrals in a clean-lined modern space. The more design I do, and the more I am exposed to, I find that I am becoming more eclectic. So, while I still prefer a more modern aesthetic, I like more layers of art, textiles, and found objects mixed in than I used to. I like it when the design tells a story about the owner.
This muted blue laundry room transforms chores into a task done with delight. An island for folding and organized cubbies make laundry days a breeze.
AJ: Are you a pet person? Why either way? Dogs or cats?
BR: I love all animals. I have had pets consistently throughout my life, and I love how each one is quirky and individual in their own way. My dog Linus is our office mascot and comes to work with me every day. He is as unique as they come and very particular about his routine! And he is definitely a ladies’ man!
AJ: How would you define your work in three words
BR: Thoughtful. Functional. Textural.
He would eventually launch his namesake firm, Brad Ramsey Interiors, in 2012. Offering a full range of tailored interior design services, the team works tirelessly to bring their thoughtful designs to fruition. By working collectively with architects, builders, contractors, and creatives, Brad is able to steer the design process to capture each client’s unique personality and lifestyle.
