Andrew Joseph: Describe your design style as if you were explaining it to someone who cannot see.
Gregory Phillips: I design houses that are contemporary and luxurious. I like to use traditional materials in a contemporary manner. For example, I am currently working on a few houses using a long brick. Brick is a fantastic material, originally clay that is fired and then cut or shaped it forms a fantastic façade to a building with texture and color variations. Subtle and elegant.
AJ: What would you like to be remembered for?
GP: I would like to be remembered for creating unique houses. For creating luxurious and comfortable spaces that are also exciting and elegant. Architectural and life enhancing. Energy efficient and sustainable and also gorgeous.

This Berkshire home uses Danish grey brickwork, Canadian Western Red Cedar cladding, and polished concrete floors to complement the rustic landscape and sculpted garden of the property.
AJ: How would you define your work in three words?
GP: Contemporary, Elegant, Comfortable.
AJ: Favorite piece of clothing you own?
GP: Prada leather jacket.
AJ: What would your dream project or dream client be right now?
GP: New build circa 10,000 square feet house on a beach or adjacent to a river/lake with a client that wants a Contemporary, Elegant, Comfortable house with interiors, architecture and landscaping all carried out by my office.

Boxlike structures, staggered and cut open for air, amalgamate in a classic Phillips build.
AJ: Must have clothing item everyone should have in their closet?
GP: Black jeans.
AJ: What are you most proud of?
GP: I am most proud of the new houses that my office has designed that have won awards and also that have delighted their owners. Today I am proud that we have projects in several locations around the world and I aim to create many more projects as the office is producing fantastic work.
