Andrew Joseph: How do you stay creative and inspired?
Vani Sayeed: Experiencing different cultures and my love for a diverse range of art, architecture and design through global travel has always been inspiring. I also closely follow the latest fashion coming out each season. Sometimes experiences from an interesting conversation, reading a poem or a book can spark a creative thought.
AJ: What is the most important element in a successful interior design?
VS: A successful environment needs to be inviting! To achieve that we first need to address the architecture of the space. For example, the doors & windows should be in sync with the flow of the room. The positive spaces like furniture/furnishings and negative spaces are balanced. Next, the inspiration, concept and final curated environment have to be unique and specialized for the end user/client. These are the basic elements to create a successful design.
Soft grey tones with hints of blue weave through layered patterns and bold textiles.
AJ: How do you keep up with the latest design trends?
VS: My goal is always to create spaces that are fresh yet timeless! Having said that, keeping on top of new product, innovation and technology is key to creating spaces that are spot-on. I like to visit trade shows like Salone, Deco Off, ICFF etc. to educate and inspire my team and I. We invite vendors to showcase their new collections and product in our studio. Besides, we look at social media and print publications to explore what’s new.
AJ: How do you approach a new design project?
VS: Starting off by having an in-depth conversation with the client about their design goals, the inspiration and vision. Followed by the timeline and budget.

AJ: Can you describe your design philosophy is 3 words?
