Inside The 2020 Junior League Of Detroit Show House

Through the patience and persistence of the Junior League of Detroit, its volunteers, partners and designers, the 23rd annual Junior League of Detroit Designers’ Show House opened its doors September 19 – October 4, 2020.

The awe-inspiring transformation of the historic Bingley Fales House into this year’s Junior League of Detroit Show House is the result of the tireless effort of over 30 designers. Take a look at their work below.

Recognized in The American Institute of Architects Guide to Detroit Architecture, the Bingley Fales House was designed and built in 1907 by Chittenden & Kotting for Bingley Fales, a lawyer and assistant general manager of the Edison Illuminating Company.

At 15,000 square feet, the home is the largest residence in the Indian Village neighborhood, boasting 10 bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two half baths. The home is set on two acres of land, which include formal gardens and a Pewabic Tile reflecting pool.

Proceeds from this year’s Show House will support the JLD’s health and nutrition initiatives through a program called Project EAT, which is to provide Education, Access, and Tools to support healthy eating options for children and families in the Detroit community.
