Lawson-Fenning Opens First-Ever East Coast Showroom In New York

Lawson-Fenning, the Los Angeles-based design brand renowned for its distinct blend of handcrafted furniture, ceramics, and vintage curation, opened its first-ever showroom outside of LA earlier this month. Located on Lafayette Street in the NoHo neighborhood of New York City, the 4,500-square-foot space, designed by interior designer Josh Greene, marks a pivotal moment in the studio’s expansion.

The new showroom immerses clients in Lawson-Fenning’s signature aesthetic, combining California warmth with a curated urban sensibility. “Opening in New York is a bit of a homecoming for me,” shares Glenn Lawson, co-founder of Lawson-Fenning. “I spent my formative years in the city. New York shaped me aesthetically, and it feels great to come full circle.”

Upon entering the space, visitors will find curated furniture arrangements that emulate real living environments, alongside a selection of ceramics and objects by both California- and New York-based makers. A key highlight of the new showroom is its exclusive pieces from artists and designers such as Devin Wilde, Canoa, O&G, and James Cherry.

“New York has been a dream for us,” explains Grant Fenning, co-founder of Lawson-Fenning. “We’ve been wanting to open a showroom here for many years. We came very close in 2019, but the planet had other plans. This year, we found the perfect space and knew it was time.”

Lawson-Fenning entrusted Josh Greene, a longtime friend and collaborator, to design the Lafayette Street showroom. The project began in October 2024 and involved transforming a raw, quintessential downtown loft dating back to 1910. “The biggest challenge was taking this quintessential downtown space and modernizing it while preserving its original character,” Greene explains. “We kept the raw bones — windows, steel columns, cement beams — and organized the interior into sections to balance both commercial and residential elements.”

Greene also drew inspiration from California’s natural beauty and mid-century architectural references. “The space reflects Lawson-Fenning’s California energy, recalibrated for New York City. The walnut datum that wraps the entire showroom and shades of green in the powder room evoke the landscape seen from Glenn’s kitchen window in Los Feliz.”

Lawson-Fenning sees the new showroom as an opportunity to better serve its New York client base by providing the full brand experience. “Showing our line in context with our circle of ceramicists, makers, and curated vintage selections is important to us,” adds Fenning. “We believe in-person retail is the best way to truly understand the brand and experience the quality of the pieces.”

Josh Greene sees the project as a perfect fusion of his passions. “This project marries many things I love — interior design, furniture design, presentation, and friendship. It’s a space where people can go to see great furniture and beautiful objects.”
