Lulu & Georgia Taps Five Creatives For Sense of Home Campaign

What makes a house a home? Is it hearing the roaring laughter of your loved ones? The aroma of a savory meal cooking in the oven? The feeling of a plush cashmere throw blanket? That’s exactly the question Lulu & Georgia is looking to address in its latest campaign, aptly named Sense of Home. For its latest initiative—which is displayed through blog posts, videos, social features, and curated shopping lists—the design brand tapped five individuals to share the sense that makes them feel most at home. As professionals spanning a range of industries—music, cooking, floral design, ceramics, and interior design—these creatives prove that home is a multisensory feeling.

Take musician Chase Cohl, for example, who is inspired by sounds of all decibels—from a soothing playlist to the crackle of a fire log. “It informs the way I dress, the way I decorate, the books I read, the things I’m inspired by, the people I spend my time with, the way that we connect to one another through a great song or the things that we remember about a good night and what we were listening to,” the artist told Lulu & Georgia. Through Sense of Home, Cohl shares how she embraces the sound (and silence) of her Laurel Canyon home—and even presents a corresponding playlist.

If a delicious meal is what you’re after, Hawa Hassan’s campaign will deliver. Here, the chef, cookbook author, and Basbaas Food founder shares her recipe for a traditional Somali recipe called Bariis Iskukaris. “A pot of Bariis Iskukaris helps me feel at home and connected to my Somali family and roots even when I am far away from both,” she shared in her campaign. Pair it with a cold glass of champagne—one of Hassan’s other favorite things to taste—and you’ll be embracing the taste of home just like the chef herself.

Florist, artist, and Bloom & Plume founder Maurice Harris welcomes shoppers into his Los Angeles duplex and offers recommendations for his favorite candles and match cloches—all of which are available at Lulu & Georgia. “My house is a direct reflection of my brain and my heart,” Harris told the brand. “It’s the bouquet of myself, I guess. It’s filled with all the different scents that I love and all the different objects that I’ve collected. My home is such a special place to me.”

From a sleek marble countertop to a plush rug, texture is the backbone of every well-appointed space. For her Sense of Home campaign, ceramicist Emilie Halpern welcomed Lulu & Georgia into her Los Feliz home. “This house could be who I wanted to be,” Halpern shares. “Like all the beauty I had in me could finally come out and be expressed in this environment, tangibly.” To help Lulu & Georgia shoppers unlock their homes’ potential, she shared a carefully curated selection of tactile goods.

And, since no home is complete without rooms full of beautiful things, designer Sarah Solis shares the power of beautiful visuals during her Malibu home tour, which captures her “unstated luxury” design style. As she told Lulu & Georgia, “It better make you feel something because that’s the same as looking at art, you know?”

If there was any room for debate, Lulu & Georgia’s Sense of Home campaign proves there’s no competition between sight, scent, sound, taste, or touch. In fact, the key to a warm inviting home is to use all five collaboratively under one roof.
