Barrett Bergmann Home was founded in 2024 out of both passion and necessity. Award-winning Southwest Florida-based designer Dwayne Bergmann and his partner, Texarkana-based Kyle Barrett, a designer, florist, and cattle rancher, united their distinct creative backgrounds to address the challenges of sourcing custom, high-quality products for luxury projects. A trade-only brand, Barrett Bergmann Home offers custom capabilities, superior craftsmanship, and thoughtful, unexpected details designed to meet the needs of discerning designers, blending Dwayne’s professional equestrian influence with Kyle’s ranching roots to create an aesthetic that is global yet grounded, timeless yet modern. The inaugural collection includes highly customizable bath vanities, real-touch floral arrangements crafted using Japanese Ikebana techniques with premium silk florals and proprietary grasses, and a home fragrance line that captures the essence of Dwayne and Kyle’s shared vision through candles and diffusers. Andrew Joseph: What inspired you to become a designer?
Dwayne Bergmann: As a creative, I am extremely stimulated by my visual surroundings and have always enjoyed tailoring my own spaces to feel uniquely mine yet functional and welcoming. While working in the corporate world, I was encouraged by my family and friends to pursue my natural gifts, and can truly say I’ve found my passion and get to do what I love.
AJ: What is your favorite design element to incorporate into your projects?
Kyle Barrett: No matter the project, I love incorporating pieces with a story. A space can be beautiful on its own, but when you add something meaningful — where it came from, who made it, the journey to finding it, or its history — it transforms. That’s when a beautiful object becomes an heirloom.
AJ: Can you tell us about a specific moment in your career that made you feel accomplished?
KB: After a particularly challenging project many years ago, my client and I sat in her finished living room, sharing a glass of Caymus. I asked, “How does this home make you feel?” She paused and said, “It’s like eating a rich slice of chocolate cake — satisfying, delightful, rich, and feels like home.” That moment has stayed with me, and ever since, I’ve aimed to give every client that same sense of deep contentment when a project is complete.
AJ: What is the most important element in a successful interior design?
DB: To me, functionality is the ultimate luxury. The most exceptional interiors seamlessly fulfill every practical need while surpassing all visual expectations.

Defined by a structured rectangular form, natural hide wrapping, and brushed gold accents, the Brindled Mane Bathroom Accessory Set delivers a bold yet timeless statement rooted in modern craftsmanship.
AJ: What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on and how did you overcome it?
KB: I won’t name names, cheeky Andrew — but projects where couples have conflicting design visions are often the most challenging. It’s not just about blending two aesthetics; you often find yourself playing mediator. The key is to listen, explain, navigate the compromises, and ultimately bring it all together.
AJ: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a designer?
DB: Choose your clients carefully — one misaligned client can drain creativity and morale across your entire team. No fee is worth the cost of a bad relationship, especially because the nature of our business is so intimate. Pay close attention to red flags during the interview process, and don’t shy away from tough conversations early on to ensure it’s a true mutual fit.
AJ: How do you approach designing for different types of clients?
DB: What I find most rewarding about this career is the variety — no two clients or projects are ever the same. There’s never a dull moment, and each experience is truly unique. While we follow a consistent process to guide every project, it’s that structure that allows us to dive deep into the nuances of each client. Our goal is always to deliver design and functionality that go beyond what they imagined.

With its graceful curves, vertical fluting, and marble top contrasted by sleek brass detailing, the Plaza Bathroom Vanity brings a sense of quiet luxury and refined craftsmanship to the bath.
AJ: How do you incorporate art into your designs?
KB: I’m very intentional when it comes to placing art — it should speak to the client’s soul and senses. I always involve them in selecting pieces that resonate on a personal level. There’s no greater joy than completing a project and hearing a client say, “Kyle, I truly love my home — and the art brings it to life.”
AJ: What is your favorite type of space to design?
DB: I love designing kitchens, primary baths, and bedrooms — the core spaces where clients truly live. These rooms must be highly functional, but I believe they should also reflect creativity and thoughtful design to keep them fresh and inspiring. I enjoy mixing materials and textures to engage the senses, and tailoring each space to a client’s daily habits and rituals is what makes it feel truly luxurious.
AJ: What is your favorite type of furniture to design?
DB: Designing case goods has been incredibly fulfilling. Collaborating with Abner Henry to craft pieces that blend mid-century modern, Art Deco, and European influences—using a mix of wood species, metals, and finishes — has been a truly rewarding creative experience.
AJ: Can you describe your design philosophy in three words?
KB: Rich Chocolate Cake.
