Andrew Joseph: What is your favorite design-related quote?
Jazo Romero: Don’t be afraid to propose and innovate in design, the craziest ideas are made by true crazy people in this world who are willing to break the rules and make a significant change, those of us who are crazy enough and think we can change the world are the ones that we really will

AJ: What inspired you to become a designer?
JR: Something that inspires me to be a designer is being able to generate emotions in all people, I have had many experiences where people change their way of being and their routine of life from having one of the designs I have made, the best feeling as a designer It is your pieces in an environment where people have fun with them, that inspires me as a designer.

AJ: How do you stay creative and inspired?
JR: It is a very funny question because many people would think that I must consume something to be able to develop the ideas that I do. The way I stay inspired is by disconnecting from the traditional world and really connecting with nature forest, sea, beach.

AJ: What is your favorite thing about being a designer?
JR: My favorite part of design is being able to generate significant emotions and experiences for all the people around me. I feel a great responsibility for making them have a more fun and exciting life, getting out of the ordinary. Design allows you to be just as you are without fear of nothing

AJ: If you weren’t a designer, what would you be and why?
JR: It is very interesting because before starting to study industrial design I had been in an internship in a hospital because I wanted to study medicine, after the first whole day I realized that this was not my thing (haha). After that, I had the possibility of entering Industrial Design or Actuary (a career that specializes in mathematics). I thought about it for a moment and said I am going to Industrial Design and I became crazy about design. Today, I have participated in the best design platforms worldwide like Salone del Mobile, Wanted Design NY, Design Week México, Desgin Week London, Yodex Taiwan, etc. and I was able to be a career coordinator at CEDIM, a university in Monterrey Mexico at the age of 23, an achievement that reflects all the effort I have made

AJ: What’s a new hobby/skill that you have learned recently?
JR: Lately, I have started to climb hills. It seems to me a truly challenging activity because the only way to get there is with your own effort and there is no other way to do it, I have always said this activity is like undertaking, each step you take is an important step in the process that will lead you to the goal, no matter what paths you have to face.
