Maker Monday: An ASPIRE Exclusive Interview With Liz Marsh

The design possibilities are endless when it comes to the eglomise and decoupage lamps from Liz Marsh Designs. Glass blown to perfection, all of her lamps are created by hand and each has around 30 coats of paint. From modern, to minimalist, to classic styles, the colors and finishes are limitless, allowing each client to receive exactly what they want in a lamp design. Please welcome this week’s Maker Monday, Liz Marsh.

Pieces from Liz Marsh’s Eden Collection, which features parrots, butterflies, snakes, and elements of botanical gardens.

Andrew Joseph: What is something you hope to see trending in design in the future?
Liz Marsh: I hope to see more original out of the box artisanal products added to design projects. Original art and bespoke lighting rather than prints and mass-produced pieces to add that touch of soulfulness and character!

Andrew: What’s the one thing people don’t know about you?
Liz: I have been obsessed with interiors since childhood! I insisted on a canopied bed and my Mother even let me wallpaper my ceiling! When I moved her out of my childhood home, I discovered that she had kept my school papers. So, of course, I had to look at them before tossing, and I found my Career Plan I had to do as an assignment in 7th-grade Civics class – Interior Design! It was actually quite good if I say so myself.

Andrew: What would your dream project or dream client be right now
Liz: Creating artworks on canvas, sculptures, and lighting for an OTT project. I work in every medium and would love to collaborate with a dream client with vision.

At Liz Marsh Designs, the color and design options are limitless. You can choose from any base and cap finish, all the way to the colors of the lamp body. These pieces are from her amazing Boheme Collection.

Andrew: Are you a pet person? Dogs or cats?
Liz: Absolutely! I love both dogs and cats! I think a home without the life force energy a pet adds is lacking. I have rescued many animals and contribute to many homeless shelters and always say when you support my work, you inadvertently help animals too.

Andrew: What are three things you can’t live without?
Liz: Nature, Pets, Books.
