Andrew Joseph: How would you describe your personal style?
Patrick Norguet: I am unable to define a style, I hope I don’t have one. What interests me most is the nature of the projects, they have context. Every brand or company has a story, my job is to understand it and design accordingly and in a singular way. I don’t like the work of designers who apply their own recipes in each factory.

AJ: What would be your dream project or client right now?
PN: To take the time to pursue my project and brand STUDION. A brand that we built with entrepreneurial freedom in which we design and produce a universe of exclusive products. But like all start-ups and brand launches, it requires investment.

Mouth-blown and tinted, Flar serves as a captivating decorative object even when switched off. The glass shade is available in honey and turquoise while the base comes in champagne and terra, a warm tone combining hints of pink, orange and brown.

AJ: What do you find yourself daydreaming about most these days?
PN: Driving back to the mountains after the snow melts and climbing to the top.

AJ: What’s inspiring you in life (in the industry) right now?
PN: Processes. I love processes above all, they fascinate me because they
illustrate the intelligence of man and their talent to produce. From craft to industry.

AJ: If you could be invited to appear on a television show – on or off the air – what show would you be invited to?
PN: Travel back in time to 1968 to participate in the show “Rock’n’Roll Circus” recorded in London.

AJ: If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
PN: I would be a bear, to spend the winter sleeping.

About the Maker | For Patrick Norguet, design is first and foremost about happy encounters. What he is most passionate about is exchanging with manufacturers, discovering their know-how; the impulse of a creative intention refined by technical constraints, economic stakes and the expectations of a user whom he hopes to discreetly but durably win over.

Drawing inspiration from everything that surrounds him, Patrick Norguet does not follow trends but seeks to give shape to products whose relevance and modernity would withstand the test of time: “A well-designed object, an object created through generous collaboration is timeless.”
