Founded by Corel and Elizabeth Theuma, Rooof is a luxury pet furniture brand born from the belief that a beautifully designed home should welcome every member of the family, animals included. United by a shared passion for elevated interiors and a deep love for their own dogs, the founders set out to redefine pet furniture as a seamless extension of the home, where uncompromising design, refined materials, and genuine comfort coexist effortlessly. Drawing from Corel’s background in creative direction and brand storytelling and Elizabeth’s expertise in building seamless operational systems, Rooof balances form, function, and feeling in every piece. Each product is inspired by a dog they have cherished, with those distinct personalities informing the collection’s refined character, durability, and timeless appeal. Beyond the home, their commitment extends through Rooof’s “Buy a Rooof, Give a Roof” initiative, which supports dogs in need with every purchase, reinforcing the brand’s belief that true luxury is rooted in care, purpose, and thoughtful living with dogs. Andrew Joseph: What inspired you to become a designer?
We’ve always been drawn to the spaces we live in and how design shapes our everyday mood. When we brought a dog into our home, we realized that most pet furniture clashed with the interiors we worked so hard to curate. Rooof was born from that frustration — a desire to create products that elevate the home while prioritizing comfort for our pets.
AJ: Can you describe your design philosophy in three words?
Harmonious. Timeless. Functional.
AJ: How do you stay creative and inspired?
We find creativity in the tension between opposites: structure and softness, form and function, tradition and innovation. Traveling often helps; seeing how different cultures approach their home environments always sparks new ideas.

AJ: What was the last book you read, and how did it inspire you?
The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton. It reinforced the idea that design isn’t just about beauty, but about how spaces and objects make us feel. That’s exactly what we want Rooof pieces to do for people and their dogs.
AJ: Can you tell us about a specific moment in your career that made you feel accomplished?
Seeing the first Rooof bed placed in a client’s home, and watching their dog immediately curl up in it, was a powerful moment. It was immediate validation that we’d created something that truly works on both human and canine levels.
AJ: What is your favorite place to find inspiration?
We love stepping into beautifully designed hotels or boutique spaces when we travel (think La Mamounia in Marrakesh, where we got engaged). They’re like living galleries, and they inspire us to think about how luxury and comfort can coexist.
AJ: What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Bridging two worlds: interior design and pet comfort. Knowing that we’re helping people live harmoniously with their pets, without compromise, is incredibly rewarding.

AJ: How do you incorporate sustainability into your designs?
We source durable, high-quality materials that are meant to last, rather than end up in landfills after a year. Sustainability, to us, is about longevity — creating something people want to keep and dogs love to use.
AJ: How do you balance functionality and aesthetics in your designs?
We don’t see them as competing forces. A design isn’t successful if it only looks beautiful but doesn’t serve its purpose. Every Rooof bed starts with the dog’s needs, then we elevate it to meet the standards of modern interiors.
AJ: What is your favorite design era and why?
Midcentury modern. It’s clean, minimal, and timeless, but also warm and inviting. That balance of simplicity and comfort is exactly what we try to bring into Rooof.
