The Ginkgo Chandelier is inspired by the harmonious duality of sunlight and shadows and symbolizes Yin and Yang.
Andrew Joseph: What’s a new hobby/skill that you have learned recently?
Verónica Mar: In the last years I’ve been studying geobiology, sacred geometry and Feng shui. I am applying this knowledge to my creations so they can raise the vibration of the space where my pieces are placed. I work in collaboration with architects and landscape designers to create a harmonious and balanced space where my pieces shine beyond its form.
AJ: Can you describe your design philosophy in three words?
VM: Essence, Harmony, Ethereal.
Inspired by a vivid dream, and drawn with several lines at 4 am, ALFA is a versatile indoor/outdoor sculpture that symbolizes purity.
AJ: What inspired you to become a designer?
VM: More than a designer I feel I’m an artist with a soul of a healer. My favorite aspect of being an artist is the opportunity to infuse spaces and objects with energy, balance, and harmony. Through my creations, I can influence the way people experience their surroundings, transcending the boundaries of the visible world. I take great joy in knowing that each piece I create serves as a “point of light,” radiating conscious energy to harmonize and elevate the spaces where they are placed. This connection between art and the spiritual world, the ability to transform and energize environments, is what I cherish most in my role as a designer and artist.
AJ: What would your dream project or dream client be right now?
VM: A client who allows me to create with no budget and who is conscious about the reality, in terms of concepts the knowing of what is the quantum field, etc.
The Soul Sculpture Bench is a mesmerizing piece of furniture that captures the beauty of the universe. Its spiraling design evokes galaxies and DNA strands, symbolizing our interconnectedness.
AJ: How do you balance functionality and aesthetics in your designs?
VM: Balancing functionality and aesthetics in my designs is a fundamental aspect of my creative process. I view functionality as the vessel through which aesthetics can shine, and aesthetics as the soul that breathes life into function. By prioritizing the essence of a piece, I ensure that every design element serves a purpose beyond mere decoration. My philosophy is to let the intended function guide my aesthetic choices, harmonizing form and purpose. This synthesis results in designs that are not only visually captivating but also profoundly meaningful and useful, striking a delicate equilibrium between the two.
