The Palm Beach Gallerist

Piano under Snow
Burning Giraffe, Aubusson tapestry

Debra Onessimo has long admired and shown the work of Salvador Dali, but it was a coup for her to display the Pierre Argillet Collection at her 3,500-square-foot gallery, Onessimo Fine Art, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

The prices for the pieces in the collection range from $10,000 to $950,000, notes Onessimo. The tapestries are rare, she points out, and the Argillet Collection holds a soft spot for her because “they are the prettiest, the softest, most romantic pieces, with gorgeous horses and soft, pastel colors.”

She predicted that the drawings would sell first – for $150,000 to $250,000 each – because they are hard to come by.

“Christine has some great stories, and people love being near her,” Onessimo notes. “People like to be close to greatness. Dali was a great artist, an originator. He combined the possible with the beautiful. Like Picasso, he became technically strong at such a young age that it allowed his mind to open to other possibilities.”

She adds, “He broke new ground, and that affects the public conversation. There are just a handful of artists like that.”
