Professional Profiles: John Cioletti Raises Reno’s Appliance To New Heights

Reno’s Appliance was founded in 1951 by Reno Cioletti as Reno’s Radio and TV Shop, the one-stop appliance store located in Paterson, New Jersey. Reno’s sons John, Jim and Paul continue the family tradition today with a 16,000-square-foot showroom offering state-of-the-art appliances for indoor and outdoor living. Reno’s President and CEO John Cioletti shares his insights about the company’s lasting success, new appliance trends and the pride of carrying on his father’s business.

Gwen Donovan: Being in business for over 70 years is a stellar achievement, what are some of the factors that make Reno’s such an enduring presence in the appliance marketplace?
John Cioletti: We believe that taking care of our customers is our most important goal. Our team puts the customer first and foremost, listening to them and focusing in detail on what each customer wants and needs. We take pride in getting our customers the appliances that are right for them, and strive to make the selection of appliances the most stress-free part of their renovation process.

GD: How have appliances changed for the better through the decades?
JC: Appliances today are more energy-efficient and manufacturers are much more aware of designing product lines that have the least negative impact on the environment. Wi-Fi connectivity is another innovation that is available in many brands, and greatly helps with remote updates and diagnostics. Steam oven cooking continues to grow in popularity as an easy, healthy and convenient way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

GD: How do you think your father would feel about his sons growing the company he established?
JC: Our father would be pleased to see how my brothers and I have grown the business, and that customer satisfaction is still our top priority. Our 96-year-old mother is still with us and tells us often how proud our dad would be of us.

GD: What is something your customers may not know about Reno’s that makes you proud?
JC: Our business gives back to the community through various charities, and we are happy we are able to support local schools and community organizations however we can. I’m honored to be a part of several organizations including the St. Joseph’s Health Foundation, raising awareness and financial support for St. Joseph’s University Medical Center so their incredible team of doctors, nurses and medical professionals can keep changing lives for the better.
