For Dublin-based interior designer Róisín Lafferty, Ireland is more than home… it is the soul of her design philosophy and an enduring source of inspiration. Known for weaving natural elements into her interiors, she draws a deeply spiritual connection between place and material, most recently through her collaboration with Aria Stone Gallery in Dallas and Houston. This limited capsule collection of 12 natural stones, hand-selected and personally sourced by Lafferty in Italy, is a bold blend of marbles, quartzites and onyx. Lafferty and April Graves, Partner + COO of Aria Stone Gallery, recently shared their thoughts about this exciting international collaboration, which debuted on November 6.
The decision to work together was especially meaningful to Graves, who noted, “Collaborating with Róisín has long been a personal goal. To me, she represents the very essence of Aria in designer form, making this collaboration a truly natural fit, a seamless marriage of vision and philosophy that just made perfect sense.” Lafferty agreed, saying, “This collection has been such a beautiful meeting of minds. My love of interiors anchors hugely around natural stone, its intrinsic beauty and how it can enhance any space. I truly believe that we are privileged to be able to work with such a beautiful, finite material from our very earth.” Joining forces with Aria Stone Gallery was truly a transformative achievement, she added. “We wanted to create something that celebrates the raw poetry of stone while pushing its expressive potential in contemporary interiors.”
The collection honors the dramatic power of nature itself. Each stone was selected for its individuality and depth of color: from deep, mossy greens that speak to Lafferty’s Irish heritage to rosy pinks, muted creams and soft neutrals. “Róisín and Aria share a mutual belief that natural stone should be more than a surface; it should be an artistic medium that tells a story. This collaboration brings together Róisín’s fearless approach to materiality and form with Aria Stone Gallery’s mission to elevate stone to the level of fine art. Both are driven by a desire to challenge convention and reimagine how natural stone can shape spaces through emotion, texture and timeless beauty,” Graves explained.
Lafferty also shared that viewpoint, adding, “For both of us, stone is far more than a material; it is a living medium with memory and depth. I’m fascinated by its story; the layers, the veining, the subtle imperfections that reveal its journey through time. To think that each stone takes its color, depth and characteristics from the land it comes from, including the variety across the different continents. It’s mesmerizing and truly wonderful.”
As far as future collaborations go, there will be a special inclusion of Irish Green marble debuting in December, signifying both an expression of Celtic heritage and a symbol of forthcoming design innovation. Considered the heartbeat of the entire collection, this stone embodies Róisín Lafferty’s culture and creative spirit, Graves pointed out. “Deeply rooted in her Irish origins, it reflects the lush landscapes, misty greens and quiet strength of Ireland’s natural beauty.”
