Samad’s New Rug Collections Celebrate The Beauty Of Neutral

When it comes to buying a gorgeous rug, you don’t need a bright color or punchy pattern to make a statement. As Samad’s latest offerings prove, the smallest details can make the largest impact. “Color is really popular right now, but neutrals are a classic,” explain David and Malcolm Samad, founders of the eponymous rug company. “A lot of our designers are really drawn to neutrals, so we’re focusing on a lot of texture here.” It may be easy to write off a neutral-toned rug as a blank canvas; however, Samad’s clever use of thoughtful weaves and varying pile height have the power to transform a room—combining an easy, serene atmosphere with ample visual appeal.

“When you see these rugs in person, the details are so interesting to look at,” the duo shares. “Some are very bohemian and super-plush, while others have tighter knots.” And, since Samad’s offerings are artisan-crafted using only the highest materials, it’s safe to say that no two rugs are the same—bringing a little bit of unique personality to your space.

David and Malcolm are providing a behind-the-scenes look at their new rug offerings here, proving just how powerful neutrals can be.

Boho Plus
Transform your home into a cozy respite with the help of Samad’s Boho Plus collection. Perfect for living rooms, these high-pile rugs use New Zealand wool to create a delightfully plush backdrop. Meanwhile, a block print-esque texture brings la vie bohème front and center.

Catalina
Hand-knotted with the finest New Zealand wool, Catalina is a wonderful option for deft design chameleons. The collection’s variety of versatile, earthy colorways and striations can be easily incorporated into a range of rooms and design styles—not to mention they can be passed down to generations to come.

Santa Fe
Revel in Samad’s minimalist side with its Santa Fe collection. Whether you pair the textural striations of the Canyon or Loretto with bold bursts of colors or let Eldorado’s hints of black take center stage, the collection’s rustic flair can be dressed up or down to match its setting.

Nordic
Old meets new with Samad’s Nordic collection, which modernizes the traditional rug-making process with undyed New Zealand wool. Here, David and Malcolm drew inspiration from Nordic landscape, using a mix of high and low piles to recreate the illusion of snow-capped fjords.

Oasis
Since its founding in 1985, David and Malcolm have wanted to reimagine the rug industry—and the duo hit their stride with the Oasis collection. Available in muted colors like sand and stone, Oasis achieves a unique texture with its combination of two weaving techniques: A modern, dual-layer weave and the ancient Tapestry weave, which has been practiced for thousands of years.

Dunes
While most of Samad’s neutral rugs are made with 100 percent wool, the Dunes collection uses a mix of wool and silk to give this layer a subtle sheen. Meanwhile, the striations seen throughout the rug bring a hint of dynamic texture to a soothing primary bedroom.
