New Rug Collections From Samad Offer A Fresh Take On Geometrics

When David and Malcolm Samad launched their eponymous rug company, Samad, in 1985, they sought to create high-quality, high-design rugs to elevate a room from the ground up. “All Samad Rugs are artisan-crafted using the highest quality materials, with hundreds of hands involved in the intricate rug making process,” the duo shares. “As a result, no two rugs are ever exactly alike, each with its own unique personality and charm.”

Nearly 40 years later, Samad is bringing its quintessential craftsmanship front and center with three new collections. While each assortment has a different source of inspiration—be it the Nordic fjords, classic Scandinavian design, or la vie boheme—the brothers were inspired by offering fresh, eye-catching iterations of geometric patterns.

“Fundamentally, geometric patterns blend a collection of different shapes, curves and lines to create visual appeal,” they share. “Our creative team has developed three new geometric rug collections that apply these principles in new and different ways. From the varying color choices, scales and the use of negative space and symmetry, each collection reimagines shapes and their relationship with each other in a unique way.”

Join David and Malcolm for an intimate look at Samad’s three top styles from its geometric offerings.

Garth
As part of Samad’s Nordic collection, the Garth excels in sophistication through simplicity. “[It] uses repetitive small scale square shapes in varying sizes, along with contrasting shades of taupe, blue and brown that create an eye-catching pattern,” David and Malcolm share. The Garth, along with the rest of the Nordic collection, is hand-knotted with New Zealand wool, providing an organic, visually appealing quality to the collection.

Rebel
The Bohemian collection’s thick-pile rugs are designed to provide a comfortable yet eye-catching layer. A perfect addition to a bedroom or living room, the line’s Rebel rug appeals to the senses. “With its broad architectural lines and sharp triangular shapes, this rug has a bold look,” they share. “Rebel is crafted with natural undyed wool and offers a modern geometric design that can easily suit a minimalist aesthetic or lay the groundwork for busier decor.

Helsinki
As Samad’s Scandinavia collection proves, geometric patterns can cater to both minimalists and maximalists alike. Look to the Helsinki style, which deftly bridges the gap between subtle and statement. “Its sleek uncluttered pattern, focuses on simple lines and light airy spaces,” the brothers share. “Through broad angular shapes, Helsinki can serve as either the foundation or focal feature within a room. What’s more, the emphasis on both vertical and horizontal lines give the rug a balanced architectural quality.”

While all three of Samad’s geometric-driven rugs offer plenty of style, they still provide that artisanal quality that put the brand on the map many years ago. “All of these rug collections are hand-knotted by artisan craftsmen with the highest quality wool, that give them a natural texture and long-lasting durability,” the brothers add.
