Andrew Joseph – What’s your wakeup ritual?
Scot Meacham – I greet the world each morning through very blurry eyes. I have about 4 alarms set – set over a time period of about 90 minutes – just get me out of the bed.
Andrew – What’s one ingredient you put in everything?
Scot – One of my mother’s best kitchen secrets… “If it calls for water, always use chicken stock.” Trust me… your morning grits will never be better!
Andrew – Secret talent?
Scot – I was a church organist for most of my life. But, my greatest regret is that I can’t tap dance. Not a bit.
Andrew – Favorite bad movie?
Scot – I can quote every line – from beginning to end – of Steel Magnolias. Every line.
Andrew – Favorite city to recharge?
Scot – London. Full stop.
Andrew – Sweet or savory?
Scot – Savory. All day, every day.
Andrew – Are there qualities in potential clients that you identify that make you know you have to run away.
Scot – An unwillingness to let decisions go. Residential design is such a collaborative effort… and watching a new client be unable to let me do my job is a clear red flag. I’m also very aware of how they speak to their house staff… or wait staff. I think how one treats people says volumes about them.
Andrew – Before leaving the house, you always…
Scot – It’s what I comically call a ‘five pat.’ In this very particular order, before I walk out the door, I touch my 1)sunglasses, 2)watch, 3)keys, 4)iPhone, and 5)wallet. It’s been decades since I locked myself out of the house!
Andrew – Style (or design) icon?
Scot – You kind of can’t go wrong with Alexa Hampton. She might also be my comedy icon too!
