Well known for his keen eye and elegantly refined aesthetic, San Francisco-based designer Scot Meacham Wood shoots for the sky with the addition of twenty new patterns in multiple colorways to his popular collection of textiles under the SMW Home brand.
Heavily inspired by the designer’s Scottish roots filtered through his unique lens, this season’s introductions present a trio of product families that, while complementing Wood’s well-known love of tartan plaid, move into the space were vintage meets whimsy, and where color and scale collide in riotous fashion:
The Highland Collection: Scot Meacham Wood’s roots are on full display in this pairing of traditionally inspired prints and custom wovens calling to mind Jacobean elegance and the quiet luxury of the Scottish Moors.
The Chinoiserie Collection: Heavily steeped in the designer’s experience living in Asia as a youth, Wood turns classic chinoiserie on its head with this dramatic family of prints. This series of overscale toiles and detailed trellis stripes come printed on heavy-duty canvas, with a vivid range of colorways that bring the romance of this classic styling to life in a uniquely modern way!
The Summer Tartans: Vivid color, exaggerated scale and an unmistakable sense of fun combine in this series of custom prints drawn directly from Scot Meacham Wood’s effusive passion for the history and tradition of all things tartan. Resting on the fine line between “restrained” and “over the top”, this collection breathes new dimension and life into one of the oldest traditions in design!
Introduced at Spring Market in High Point, North Carolina, the collections will be in production and shipping mid-April, 2019. SMW Home Textiles are available through the Scot Meacham Wood Home showroom at The San Francisco Design Center, online at ScotMeachamWoodHome.com or via a growing network of showroom partners.
