On the historic Canal Street in New Orleans sits this Homage “Hausotel”, also known as a boutique home, which differentiates itself from a hotel and a B&B. The Moor lives in a 1921 Spanish-colonial property that provides guest the choice between four units with their own living spaces, bedrooms, and kitchenettes. The allure of The Moor can be credited to founder Damon Lawrence and his mother Karen Lawrence whose design direction and architecture exudes an African and Moroccan vibe inspired by the Moors of North Africa’s influence around the world. The design pays homage to New Orleans multiculturalism, a truly global city.
Each moment in this boutique home tells a story and pays homage to the pioneers with a warm, neutral palette, historic antiquities, statement art, and natural materials. The Moor is a must-experience “Hausotel” upon your next visit to the historic melting pot of New Orleans.
Michiel resides in a historic home outside of Charleston with her husband and son. When she is not exploring the South, creating inspired entertaining experiences, or working with brands, you can find her adding to her antique collections and sharing her love for the low country.
