Studio 6F and founder/principal designer Gil Melott have been recognized for an unapologetic approach to seamlessly blending disparate textures and periods into a well-curated story for homes and public spaces. Named Best Design Gallery by Modern Luxury Magazine, Studio 6F has continued to grow and curate its presence in Chicago as well as across the globe. The firm’s new shop and design laboratory showcases a curated collection of highly sought-after vintage furnishings and blends them with American contemporary makers and artists.
Three times larger than the previous studio in Logan Square, the new 5,000 square-foot space is a range of spontaneous colors imbued with a fresh perspective, and new, unconfined artistry and ad hoc experimentation of textures. The goal is to allow each furniture and art piece to have a singular moment in the light as well as sit in the company of others.
“We don’t do mediocre,” asserts Melott. “From our design ethos to our client interaction, our creative process and sustainable business ethic, we are pioneering new approaches and developing a range of custom furnishings, modern eclectic interior designs, and stories that you will love for years to come. Our new space is a live laboratory for us to innovate in and other creatives to source from.”
In addition to the opening of the new location, two introductions from eponymous furniture brand Gil Melott Bespoke have just dropped – the Pelota Lounge chair (pictured above) and the Brazo Armchair. Both are made in the USA.
