Style & Substance: Two Collections Turning Heads In LA & Beyond

STRAIGHT LINES UNEXPECTED CURVES | As the founder and principal designer of his Los Angeles-based namesake firm, César Giraldo has brought his signature style – a timeless combination of contemporary ideas and time-honored influences – to projects far and wide. His latest endeavor is a collaboration with Mehraban for a line of area rugs that brings his love of the Art Deco movement to today’s interiors. With Straight Lines Unexpected Curves, Giraldo blends distinctive Art Deco styling with the urban landscapes of global cities he has explored for an interpretation all his own.

Crafted in India of wool and silk, the collection includes patterns representing Paris, Mumbai, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, New York City, and Los Angeles. In describing the style that permeates the interiors he designs as well as this line for Mehraban, Giraldo notes his consistent desire to meld past with present and handmade craftsmanship with modern living to create experiences that are as memorable as they are personal.

BURLESQUE | With only 13 pairs produced in the world, JennAir’s Burlesque collection of refrigeration columns set out to add a level of exclusivity to the kitchen, and an air of mysterious artistry as well. The line takes its style inspiration from antique jewelry boxes and luxury vehicles, with design details like rich burgundy interiors, a snakeskin patterned glass air tower, leather door panels, and sleek LED lighting throughout.

Of the limited allotment, some were distributed to influencers, others reside in JennAir showrooms, and only four have been made available for purchase. Those four will be sold exclusively through Snyder Diamond and can be experienced in their Santa Monica showroom. Each Burlesque unit is etched with its unique production number, to emphasize its status as a statement piece and further equate it with the purchase of a work of art.
