Townhouse in Greenwich Village Sets New Record With $32M Sale

a7The Amirian Group, a boutique real estate development firm, has announced that the lavish Greenwich Village townhouse at 16 East 10th Street has sold for the record-setting price of $32 million, shattering the previous record of $28 million (at 42 West 12th Street which sold in January 2014) for the most expensive single family home ever sold in Greenwich Village. The contract for 16 East 10th Street was signed less than two months after coming to market.

“The sale of 16 E 10th Street is an exceptional achievement for The Amirian Group,” stated David Amirian, president and founder. “This is an extraordinary property, and we were extremely diligent and meticulous in our efforts to showcase the home, which led to the fantastic result of a record sale within such a speedy timeframe.”

Purchased by Amirian in May 2012, the 167-year-old building was renovated from the former Pen and Brush Gallery into a magnificent home with six indoor levels (seven including the Roof Terrace), five-bedroom home that has 10,487-square-feet of indoor living space and over 2,000-square-feet of outdoor space which includes three outdoor spaces: a garden, terrace and roof deck. The property is complete with amenities such as a 27-foot endless swimming pool with a luxurious Jacuzzi, gym, steam room, wine cellar, staff quarters, commercial grade elevator, smart-home technology, radiant floor throughout and a grand chef’s kitchen.

a2On the heels of this record breaking sale, and among other recent noteworthy accomplishments, many in the industry have mentioned David Amirian as one of the top young developers in Manhattan. When asked he commented, “I am flattered by the admiration of my peers, but you cannot be at the ‘top’ of anything without a proven track record of at least 10 years of success in the industry. There are those that are well-deserving of such an accolade; we are just not there yet. We used both business savvy and a little luck to make a great buy and were able to sell in a strong market. This sale marks an exciting milestone for The Amirian Group, but there are several more milestones we have set for ourselves to achieve.”

16 East 10th Street has set the bar of the highest Single Family (non-double wide townhouse ever sold), and is the third highest townhouse ever sold in Greenwich Village. The highest recorded sale is 11 West 10th Street, the 55 Foot Townhouse sold in March 2007 for $33,148,000 and 22 Downing Street, the 50 Foot Townhouse sold in February 2012 for $33,000,000.

The townhouse was originally purchased by The Amirian Group and Dr. Warren Hammerschlag for $11,200,000.a3a4
