In the heart of Milan, within one of the residential buildings designed by Zaha Hadid for the CityLife district, an interior project takes shape where material, architecture, and design merge in perfect synergy. The residence, designed by architect Nicola Salami, is a striking example of how interior design can deeply engage with an iconic and dynamic architecture.

At the core of the project is PerfectCombination by HD Surface, selected to seamlessly cover walls, ceilings, wardrobes, the kitchen, and furnishings, becoming both a design material and a narrative tool. More than just a finish, it plays an active role in constructing the space’s fluid identity—following the lines, enhancing the volumes, and echoing the external façades’ warm neutral tones.
A perfect blend of concrete authenticity and resin performance, PerfectCombination is a colored mortar made from epoxy resins and water, designed to meet the versatile needs of contemporary living. Durable, elastic, and waterproof, it stands out for its soft cloud-like texture and sophisticated material quality, reminiscent of concrete with an essential, understated aesthetic. In the CityLife apartment, PerfectCombination wraps every surface like a subtle guiding thread, quietly defining the rooms with seamless continuity.

It begins at the entrance, where it unifies the walls and integrates the interior doors. Varying ceiling heights — also covered with PerfectCombination — enhance the space’s dynamic perception and create a 360-degree sense of flow.
The material continues into the dining area, shaping the curved walls that frame a large window and enclosing a long row of full-height wardrobes with recessed handles.

It then extends into the living room, where it defines the TV unit. Here, the continuous surface enhances natural light, creating a warm, coherent, and fluid environment where every function finds its place within the space.

In the primary bedroom, PerfectCombination covers the entire space, including the partition separating the sleeping area from a compact home office behind it. The result is an intimate and enveloping microcosm. The soft, tactile surface in neutral hues creates a cocoon-like atmosphere, where every element is seamlessly designed with the architecture, blurring the lines between structure and furnishings. The cloudy texture adds visual depth, enhancing the room’s calming character.

In the bathroom, PerfectCombination demonstrates its technical versatility by cladding not only the walls but also the vanity and bathtub, creating a uniform, waterproof, and textural environment. Moisture-resistant, the material allows full integration between aesthetics and functionality, bringing the same tailored quality to the bathroom as the rest of the home.

In the corridor, the surface extends across walls, doors, and a sequence of wardrobes, leading back into the living area. Here, in the kitchen, PerfectCombination defines the cabinets, central island, and snack table, helping to make the functional space a coherent extension of the living room. The material continuity transforms the space into an integrated architectural system, where function and style meet in an elegant, minimalist synthesis.

The interior does not mimic the external architecture but interprets it — thanks to PerfectCombination, which becomes a fluid, artisanal, and contemporary material, shaping a bespoke home where every detail is integrated into the structure.
This project expresses a new idea of living: not a container to be furnished, but an environment that responds to the architecture, interpreting its spirit and translating it into an interior language, down to the very last detail.
