Livable, approachable, elevated. Those were the driving words behind the newly launched Amber Lewis x Four Hands collection, a collaboration between the furniture brand and Amber Lewis, interior designer and founder of Los Angeles-based Amber Interiors Design Studio and Shoppe Amber Interiors. The new line blends and crisscrosses design styles and eras to result in something relevant and curated—a contemporary line with an overarching cool-meets-refined vibe.

The collection launched with more than 100 products that take you from living to lounging to entertaining, both indoors and out. Throughout the line, warm hues and earthy textures set the scene, while Scandinavian, Italian, and Old Spanish influences converge in the details. Finishes and metals that were selected for their ability to patina over time, and a blending of materials and natural elements, like hammered rod iron and brushed metals, solid oak and pine, and natural terracotta, relay a sense of history and the feeling the pieces have been collected over time.
aspire sat down with Four Hands and Lewis to learn how the collaboration came to be…

Amber Lewis and Adam Dunn
Amber Lewis, Interior designer and founder of Shoppe Amber Interiors
“As a designer, there’s always a specific piece you wish you could find. You can picture it so well, but you can’t find it, and custom isn’t always an option for your clients. I had been thinking more and more that I just wanted a resource where I could always find the pieces and the style I want, and that my clients want. I was already a fan of Four Hands and knew their product, knew the quality. And finally, we were in a meeting one day and I said, ‘Maybe we can call Four Hands and meet with them to ask if we can do this together.’ The rest is history.’”

Matthew Briggs, chief executive officer of Four Hands
“Four Hands has been approached many times, by some very well-known people and brands, but the conversation with Amber felt different from the start. From our earliest conversations, it was clear Amber had a similar aesthetic to Four Hands but she was able to also bring a uniquely fresh and personal perspective to our offerings. And to the market.
A collaboration like this is big, it’s an important investment, and you have to feel you’re truly aligned with your partner. When Amber approached us, I thought, ‘This could be different; this feels right.’ I went to Adam and asked, ‘What about Amber Lewis?’ And he said one word: ‘Yes.’”

Adam Dunn, Vice president of design at Four Hands
“Yes, yes, and yes! I followed Amber, I knew her work and her style and I loved it, and knew this could be a great collaboration. From day one, we understood each other and where the collection should go—how it should look and feel, the types of finishes and materials. We got each other, and sharing our ideas and watching the collection unfold was very exciting.”

Rounding out the collection is artwork from several artists, including abstract-expressionist painter Tyler Guinn, and mixed medium painter Lori Marie, who is Amber’s mother.
The Amber Lewis x Four Hands collection is available to the design trade community via the Four Hands website and to consumers on Shoppe Amber Interiors.
