Inspired by the classic European charm of the 1940s, Jenna Chused and her team at Chused & Co. carefully curated vintage furniture and art from around the world. Remaining true to her style of modern with a nod to the past, Chused artfully blended antiques with a 70s vibe through the use of shape and organic movement. The warm, rich, and sophisticated color palette is influenced by an eclectic collection of art seen hung within the extensive 44- foot parlor. The unique room dimensions provided a creative challenge to the team and encouraged them to use proportions as a design element rather than a hinder. The selection of over-scaled furniture and art brings unity to both ends of the room and highlights the grandness while minimizing the risk of vastness. A love for deeply saturated colors, luxurious textures, and the beauty of the unexpected prompted the mix of double-faced crepe, silk velvets, silk tie patterns, and patinaed leathers. The rare Brazilian Percival Lafer sofa adds to the worldly elements of the room while the curved serpentine sofa adds a playful balance. Jenna Chused, a former stylist, continues to blur the line between fashion and interior design in her work and did so by selecting a high-end clothing fabric to upholster the serpentine sofa. Another notable piece in the space was hand selected at an estate sale of an antique seller. This cartoon or full-scale preparatory drawing outlined the fresco created in the home of the famous Charles M. Schwab. With all elements in the space having deep meaning and deliberate selection, Chused & Co. truly brought culture, history, and life into this remarkable Brooklyn Heights brownstone.
