Heather Humphrey is the co-founder Alder & Tweed Design, a prolific design firm with offices in Montana, Utah and New York. Coming from an entrepreneurial family, with a focus on relaxation and recreation, Alder & Tweed Design Co. is the second company Heather founded with her brother Reed, and part of a collection of companies owned by the Humphrey family, including Alder & Tweed Furniture and SideDoor, a company aimed at transforming the way the interior design community does business. The large windows of this mountainous bedroom engulf the room with light and stunning views. The modern lighting fixture gives life to the room while not overpowering nature’s beauty.
Andrew Joseph: If you could guest star on any TV show -on or off air- what show would you guest star in?
Heather Humphrey: Marvelous Mrs. Masel or Mad Men. Both are flawlessly styled to represent such an iconic time period. And I want to wear those clothes!
AJ: What would you like to be remembered for?
HH: Leaving things better and more beautiful than I found them.
A unique and modern living room, the green tiled fireplace draws you in immediately and acts as a centerpiece for the room. The ghost lucite chairs act as strong accents to the room, in contrast to the soft whites found throughout.
AJ: What’s something you always travel with?
HH: A cozy blanket. Hands down.
AJ: Favorite app?
HH: Apple Pay. Wait, is that considered an app?
AJ: Secret talent?
HH: I can pretty much recite the words to every song.
Simple ottomans in this twin bedroom are transformed by snow-white fur blankets. The dark green bed frame and blankets add some depth and color to the room against the paneled wall.
AJ: How would you define your work in three words
HH: Intentional, unexpected and chic.
AJ: Best advice you’d give your teenage self?
HH: A couple of things… First, life moves quickly, enjoy the ride. Second, embrace change. You don’t know what you’re capable of unless you’re willing to push yourself and take risks. Have fun with it!

About the Designer | Heather co-founded Alder & Tweed Design Co. in 2010 and has a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University as well as a Masters of Business Administration from the Marriott School of Business. Since starting the company, she has been involved in every aspect of interior design and directed and overseen the development and quality of the designers and their work.
