Aman New York
MANHATTAN, NY
Design: Jean-Michel Gathy | Principal, Denniston
Aman New York is a sanctuary of “quiet luxury” in Midtown Manhattan, artfully housed within the landmark Crown Building at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. With just 83 suites — each starting at approximately 718 square feet and soaring ceilings up to 11 feet — the property defies New York’s reputation for cramped rooms.

Designed by Jean‑Michel Gathy, the interiors blend Asian minimalism — rice‑paper paneling, neutral tones, fireplaces — with the Crown’s Beaux‑Arts grandeur.
The hotel’s amenities span three floors of wellness, including a 65‑foot heated pool, hammam, banya, yoga/pilates studios and cutting‑edge spa treatments.

Dining is equally elevated, with Japanese omakase at Nama and contemporary Italian at Arva on the 14th‑floor terrace. Beneath the surface lies an exclusive jazz club and a members‑only Aman Club.
Aman New York redefines urban retreats — with serenity, service and scale rarely seen at Fifth Avenue’s pinnacle.

Jean-Michel Gathy, a Belgian designer born in 1955, has led his firm’s design vision since its founding in 1983. Inducted into the Platinum Circle of Hospitality Design in 2006, he is recognized for his impact on hotel design. Gathy has served on award juries and spoken at global forums. The firm’s acclaimed projects reflect strong leadership and team collaboration, with many team members bringing experience from other top firms — key to their continued success.
