Kundung-Pembe Chair | Jomo Tariku
Jomo’s latest work synthesizes a variety of horn shapes, hence its name deriving from two regions of Africa – “Kundung” from Nigeria and “Pembe” (the Swahili word for horn) from Eastern Africa. Jomo has combined these words in order to reflect the wide use of the horn across the African continent. And, while he is most commonly known for his work with wood and plastic materials, this piece is Jomo’s first experimentation with bronze, challenging him to explore the possibilities of working with metal.

Beyond and Midair | Jacob Hashimoto for Maharam
Jacob Hashimoto who has designed two intricately woven upholsteries that interpret the painterly layering of Hashimoto’s sculptures of hundreds—sometimes thousands—of handmade bamboo kites. Beyond (pictured above) references kites hung in rhythmic arrangements for animated impact, while Midair references the expansiveness of Hashimoto’s sculptures where handmade kites are suspended from one another in compact clusters.

Drawn to the old-world artisanal craft of glass, where everything is handmade with precision, Marl Pavlovits’ work embraces organic and unexpected shapes. Each piece Mark produces is hand-blown or assembled and fused in his Los Angeles studio.
