When it comes to designing the ultimate kitchen, most people tend to follow one of two schools of thought: Create an upscale area that appeals to all the senses, or put function first with an easy-to-clean, streamlined setup. But while those two goals might seem at odds with each other, eggersmann’s stainless steel offerings prove it’s possible to have the best of both worlds in one space.

There’s a reason why stainless steel kitchens have become synonymous with the backstage of a Michelin star restaurant or buzzy hotel. “It’s antibacterial because it doesn’t have any pores,” explains Evan Soltoff, vice president of operations for eggersmann USA. “Unlike natural stones—which have tiny pores—you can clean [stainless steel] easily, sanitize it easily, wipe it down, and nothing’s going to soak in. It’s especially good if you’re placing ingredients directly on your countertop.” In addition to being easy to clean, stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion and rust, making it the workhorse of an industrial or residential kitchen.

Stainless steel delivers on practicality, but when used in excess, it can appear cold and sterile—especially in a residential space. Fortunately, eggersmann puts style at the forefront with its Silver Touch Stainless Steel finish. Often used on both cabinet fronts and countertops, this hot-rolled steel has a subtle texture that Soltoff says “really warms up a space.” “We might typically think of the brushed stainless steel you see on a refrigerator or dishwasher,” he adds. “Our Silver Touch Stainless Steel doesn’t have that brushed finish. It’s more of the impression of the roller; sometimes it has a linear pattern, but it’s very organic and non-directional in general.”

It’s that soft, non-linear edge that makes eggersmann’s Silver Touch pair particularly well with soft woods, stone, and other metals such as blackened steel or brass. The Silver Touch finish is currently available in a five-millimeter-thick worktop and three-millimeter-thick cabinet fronts. And you don’t have to restrict stainless steel to the confines of your kitchen. From an elevated credenza as a dining room buffet or upscale office file storage to upgrading your home’s media storage solutions and other cabinetry, one thing’s for sure: Silver Touch is poised to give your space a new and improved Midas touch.
