Expert Ease: Padula Builders

Padula-Builders-2When Lou Padula founded Padula Builders, Inc. in 1987, it was only him and an assistant working on small renovation projects. Over the years, the reputation of Padula Builders as one of the best luxury contractors on the Jersey Shore has grown, along with the company and the size of its endeavors! The company specializes in new construction, especially of waterfront homes. Over 100 waterfront homes built by Padula Builders, from Seaside to Point Pleasant, were virtually untouched by Hurricane Sandy, proving Padula’s incredible skill and commitment to quality.

Padula-Builders-4How involved is your company in the design process?

We don’t have in-house architects, so our involvement is predicated on the clients’ needs. We pride ourselves on our high standard of professionalism and dedication to excellent service, and we want to give clients the benefit of our experience and expertise. Building a home should always be a fun and exciting process. At the end of a project, our clients should feel like there is nothing they would change or have done differently.

What is the process like when beginning with a new client?

If they already have an architect and plans, we like to review all of the various aspects of the project. This is where we start getting into the smaller details that are key to the project proceeding smoothly, and its completion meeting or exceeding expectations. If the client doesn’t have plans, we’ll discuss the particulars, such as size, style, finishes, etc., and either recommend an architect or discuss a design/build scenario with an architect.

Padula-Builders-3You do commercial projects as well. How is that different from residential work?

There isn’t a huge difference with commercial projects; however, because more specifications and details are required and are already on the plans, commercial projects typically involve less interaction with the client.

How many projects do you have going at a time?

We usually will be working on four to six larger projects at a time, and a handful of smaller projects. Large projects include new home construction and large renovations; smaller projects are additions, interior and exterior renovations, and kitchen and bath remodels, etc.

How would you finish this sentence: In almost 30 years of being in this business…?

We’ve had the opportunity to build some truly beautiful homes and forge some remarkable friendships.
