Fabric and Steel

Fabric-and-Steel-RollsMichele-Dopp-HeadshotArchitecture and design generate a cool marriage:Fabric and Steel is a curated collection of textiles made to reflect the relationship between rough, beautiful building materials and refined, intimate designs. Made in the hip DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) section of Brooklyn, the fabrics are conceived by art history expert and former interior designer Michele Dopp who says the fabrics speak of “the places and textures that make up our lives.” Woven from linen in Belgium, and then crafted in Brooklyn, the textiles are screen printed by hand in New England. They have industrial names, including Gravel, Pavement and Salvage. There’s also Shadow, a dark silhouette of flowers and leaves against a white background. Talk about perfect couplings. These fabrics are also available in pillow form. –AGH
