The Fifth Wall Premieres At The Museum Of Arts And Design

The design world came out in full colorful force to celebrate the premiere of The Fifth Wall: The Edward Fields Story, a documentary that dives into the life and legacy of Edward Fields — the man himself and the company he created.

Designers and design historians, executives from around the globe, editors, clients and Edward Fields’ staff from multiple eras graced the red carpet — a vibrant take on the company’s long-running Terra design — and set the theatre abuzz with anticipation and excitement. When the lights dimmed, they were welcomed into the world of Edward Fields, a world where bold-faced names in design have for nine decades been eager participants and where there have never been limits to creativity or to what could be achieved.

The screening was followed by a Q&A led by aspire deputy editor and researcher on the film Jennifer Quail, who spoke with The Fifth Wall’s director Stuart Thurlkill, Edward Fields’ design director for the Americas Ariana Massouh, interior designer and gallerist Jeff Lincoln, and artist and designer Fernando Mastrangelo about the impact of the brand through its 90 years in business, it’s contribution to design and U.S. history, and the influence it continues to have today.

The Museum of Arts and Design in Manhattan served as the perfect backdrop for the event — from its Art Deco theatre where the film was screened to the spectacular event space with stunning views of the city Mr. Fields called home.

The Fifth Wall: The Edward Fields Story is a creative collaboration among aspire film, Thurlkill Studios and Edward Fields Carpet Makers.
