Imagination has gifted the Auckland-based Giapo team with the limited-edition Christmas Hand Bell and Christmas Mince Pie Ice Cream.
“We want people to experience ice cream and Christmas in a different way”
An upside down white chocolate cup is the bell, and a waffle cone its dinky handle. The bell is filled with your choice of ice cream, then sealed with more white chocolate, decorated with a layer of puffed amaranth and freeze-dried raspberry, which adds both a wonderful popping sensation and a suitably celebratory look. It’s not complete until a bow is tied around the handle, complete with an actual, ringing bell, meaning you really can ring in the season in sweet style.
For those for whom it’s just not Christmas without a classic mince pie, Giapo has created the Xmas Mince Pie Cone. The base of the pie is cut in a ring, to perfectly fit over the cone, then the cone and pie casing are filled with your choice of ice cream and topped with Giapo’s fruit mince. Finally, the lid of the mince pie goes on to finish the affair–with its cut-out star and a dusting of icing sugar, it’s got festive season written all over it. Believe us, the only thing better than a Christmas mince pie is this ice cream mince pie hybrid.
Giapo is changing how people experience ice cream by changing the function of ice cream and how people use it. These are not ice cream as we know it. People that buy these items, do not necessarily buy it to lick it or to cool themselves down because it is hot, this is something new for people that see ice cream the way we do, as a platform to express freedom and to challenge the status quo.
