Horse Hair Chair No.1

Horse Hair Chair No.1 | Horse-hair textile and blackened iron are combined to form a dynamic juxtaposition of elements. Horse-hair, a medium used for centuries, is handwoven on a floor loom by Alexandra Kohl. J.M. Szymanski uses traditional metal casting techniques combined with modern machine tools to create a unique iron frame. Each item is unique and made-to-order.

J.M. Szymanski and Alexandra Kohl met in the Hudson River valley in the fall of 2016. Together, they develop and explore unique one-of-a-kind designs that take on dramatic forms made from horse hair textile and blackened and waxed iron. We work with our clients to create original designs that are not reproduced.
