This Dallas High-Rise Kitchen Remodel Perfects Clever Storage

For many, selecting the perfect storage solution for their kitchen is a mandatory nuisance. A non-negotiable necessity? Absolutely. One that breeds endless design inspiration? Not always. But, as this high-rise remodel eggersmann spearheaded in Dallas proves, kitchen storage can deftly bridge the gap between form and function.

The project began when the clients stepped into an eggersmann showroom and met Kegan Wilson, a designer for the brand. Though the couple was initially inspired by a luxurious-yet-practical display they spotted in the Chicago showroom, the setup was a bit above their budget. Fortunately, Wilson found the perfect solution: A waterfall counter made with Nero Carrara marble, wood laminate cabinetry fronts, and, of course, strategically placed storage.

“We didn’t have the entire room to fill with cabinetry,” says Wilson. “We had to work with the space that we were given. The clients really wanted something that was sleek, yet beautiful and functional as well.”

Wilson employed glass-front display shelving from eggersmann’s Glance collection to help “break up the monotony of wood laminate.” “Having those glass cabinets to split up the island really helped add some dimension as well as beautiful display opportunities,” he adds.

Since the clients are avid entertainers—and needed a place to stow their go-to beverages—Wilson added two custom countertop pocket doors to mask the dry bar and coffee maker, respectively. “They have all this countertop space for when they need the bar or coffee maker,” he explains. “Once they’re closed away, [the clients] have a seamless, tall elevation.”

With L-profile channels around the island to create a seamless look to the clever addition of a back elevation to mask an existing column, Wilson and the eggersmann team tailor-made a kitchen to cater to the clients’ style, structural, and storage needs.

“Having that option to customize makes it more special than going somewhere else,” “And thanks to the high-resolution, 3D renderings, the couple feels completely comfortable before purchasing.”
