Esteemed British Paint Brand Little Greene Launches In America

Trusted by professionals, designers and homeowners alike, The Little Greene Paint Company is opening its first American store in Greenwich, Connecticut this fall.

“It’s very exciting to be opening a showroom in Greenwich,” Creative Director Ruth Mottershead shares. “One of the many rewarding aspects about opening retail stores is the relationships we build in the local community. It’s always wonderful to share inspiration, tell our family story and form personal relationships with local designers and homeowners. We can’t wait to open our doors and share our lovingly crafted paints and passion for color and pattern with the Greenwich design community, as well as nationwide through independent stores and via our dedicated American website.”

Open this September, Little Greene’s new store is located on East Putnam Avenue in the heart of the design district. This new store will provide expert color advice via Little Greene’s Colour Consultancy Service alongside an extensive paint and wallpaper offering which will be on display to inspire pattern and color combinations.

The Colour Palette
Little Greene paint collections have an appreciation and true understanding of color at their heart. The curated 196 colors are presented as two color cards, ‘The Colours of England’ and ‘Colour Scales’ collections, each designed to make choosing colors a pleasure and intuitive for the user.

With confidence in creating a scheme central to the Little Greene ethos, the color cards include many authentic 18th-, 19th- and 20th-century shades. These historic colors are cataloged by period, making decorating historic properties in an authentic color palette easy. Historic shades are presented alongside a carefully adjusted palette of contemporary shades, embracing modern interior design aesthetics and current decorating trends. The ‘Colours of England’ range meets the growing desire for timeless colors that are both easy to select and a joy to live with.

The collection includes many significant shades from all over the British Isles that have contributed to the internationally renowned style of ‘English Interior Design’. Accompanying this selection, the delightfully soft ‘Colour Scales’ palette showcases soft tonal colors, presented in color families offering colors that use different strengths of the same pigment. This means that consumers can use them in combination to create a harmonious interior scheme, with subtle nuances between rooms or across different areas of a room such as walls and trim.

“I grew up surrounded by color and pattern, painting out color cards with my brother at the kitchen table, and trips to our factory were always a family affair. Being surrounded by color as the business has grown is incredibly inspiring,” Mottershead continues. “How we communicate our colors and patterns, and their impact on the atmosphere of a space, is as important to us as the colors and patterns themselves. Presenting them in an inspiring but usable way and designing tools that make creating design schemes a fun and easy experience is vital. We create scheming ideas for all our paints and wallpapers to help customers combine pattern and color, and offer professional tools such as fan decks, as well as inspiring showroom displays helping customers to visualize their design scheme and providing the tools to bring it to life.”
